Conceptual art as a new rite of passage

Conceptual Art

By valuing the idea behind the artwork as much as the aesthetics, conceptual art prompts us to reflect on the very fabric of our experiences, reshaping our understanding of the world.

Individuation

This piece is inspired by Carl Jung's individuation principle, a life-long transformative process of self-discovery and integration to achieve wholeness.

The sitter affirms her individuality against a minimalist white backdrop. Black and white enhances the essence of the portrait, focusing attention on the subject's unique identity.

Holding her parents' hands, she acknowledges her genetic and spiritual heritage while declaring independence as a unique expression of the universe.

By including only their hands, the piece transforms into a conceptual artwork, highlighting interconnectedness and individuality.

A new rite of passage

Cultures worldwide commemorate the individuation process with richly symbolic rites of passage; this art piece is a modern version of that. A potent symbol chronicling a pivotal chapter in our transformative journey, marking a significant milestone in our growth towards self-discovery and personal identity.

The print

The portrait is captured using both a medium format film camera and a full frame digital camera, allowing for versatility in printing.

We can produce high-quality prints using either an inkjet process or traditional darkroom silver gelatin printing, depending on the collector's preference.

The print comes in three sizes:

Large (32 x 40 inches / 81.2 x 101.6 cms)

Medium (24 x 30 inches / 60.9 x 76.2 cms)

Small (19.2 x 24 inches / 48.7 x 60.9 cms)

Frame dimensions must be added to these print sizes.
